Teaching College Mathematics

The Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching College Mathematics at Washington State University is an innovative program that provides students with the foundations to become successful mathematics teachers. This four-month program combines theory and practice, allowing students to become knowledgeable about modern theories of learning and research-based pedagogical strategies effective for the college mathematics classroom. Through courses such as calculus, algebra, linear algebra, and statistics, they will gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. In addition, this program provides students with the opportunity to teach undergraduate courses and be evaluated by experienced faculty in order to develop their teaching skills. Students will also write a teaching philosophy statement to further enhance their understanding of post-secondary instruction.
