Materials Science and Engineering

The Master of Science in Materials Science & Engineering program at Washington State University is an interdisciplinary degree that combines coursework from Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Science, and Materials Science & Engineering. This program provides students with the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of materials science fundamentals such as structure-property relationships, advanced materials characterization techniques, processing and manufacturing methods, biomaterials, nanomaterials, and sustainability. Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through laboratory courses and research projects. Graduates from this program are well prepared for careers in industry or academia working on projects ranging from product development to sustainable materials engineering. The two-year (MS thesis) or four-year (Ph.D.) program provides graduates with excellent career prospects in a wide range of fields while allowing them to make meaningful contributions towards improving our world's infrastructure and technology.
