History

The PhD program in History at Washington State University is an innovative and challenging program designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and research experience necessary to make a major contribution to the field of academic historical knowledge. Developed for full-time and part-time students, this program provides an engaging curriculum covering both Primary and General Fields of research. Doctoral candidates will be provided with comprehensive support and guidance while conducting independent research leading to a dissertation. Financial aid in the form of teaching assistantships is also available for dedicated full-time PhD students. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will have gained detailed expertise in a specialized area as well as the skills needed to pursue careers in academia or other related fields.
