Pacific University Athletics: Fall 2025 Highlights and Championship Wins

Pacific University’s fall 2025 athletics season delivered a series of memorable moments that underscore the program’s growing reputation across the West Coast Conference and beyond. From water polo dominance to record‑setting golf and cross‑country performances, the Tigers proved they are a force to be reckoned with in every sport.

Men’s Water Polo Repeats as West Coast Conference Champions

The men’s water polo team captured its fourth West Coast Conference (WCC) regular‑season title in a row, finishing 5‑1 in conference play and 15‑8 overall. Head Coach James Graham earned his second consecutive WCC Coach of the Year award, while five Tigers earned All‑Conference honors. First‑year student Apostolos Georgaras ’29, a business administration major, was named WCC Freshman of the Year after scoring 73 goals in 23 games.

Key moments included a 14‑11 home victory over Cal Baptist at the Douglass M. Eberhardt Aquatics Center on November 2, securing the championship in front of a packed crowd. The win marked the department’s second home title of the fall season.

Golf and Cross Country Deliver Record‑Breaking Performances

Men’s Golf Sweeps the Podium

The men’s golf team posted a tournament score of –47 at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, finishing 20 strokes ahead of second‑place Colorado. The Tigers captured their first home team title since 2010, with all three individual leaders taking the top spots on the leaderboard.

Cross Country Teams Capture Championships

At the Pacific Invitational on October 3, the women’s cross country team won the 6K race, earning the Tigers their first team championship in the event. Sophomore Angelina Lione ’28, a biology major, led the charge, while the men finished as runners‑up. Under first‑year head coach Isaac Wood, the women’s squad produced seven runners in the top ten.

Basketball Gains Momentum in Non‑Conference Play

Men’s Basketball Climbs the NET Rankings

The men’s basketball team’s performance earned a No. 81 spot in the early‑December NCAA NET rankings, a dramatic rise from the previous season’s No. 297 finish. The Tigers achieved a four‑game non‑conference winning streak, all by double‑digit margins, for the first time since 2002‑03. Highlights include victories over Stony Brook, Jacksonville, Sacramento State, and Air Force, and a championship at the GEICO Sunshine Slam Ocean Bracket in Daytona Beach.

Women’s Basketball Celebrates Historic Milestone

Head Coach Bradley Davis became the winningest coach in program history on opening night, defeating future WCC member UCSan Diego 69‑66. The victory gave Davis his 141st career win, surpassing the previous record held by Melissa Taketa.
